Top 10 Covers to Slow Dance and Sing to Your Baby

I’ve been wanting to do this post for a while now. I get asked a lot about the songs I play for the kids as we always have music in the background. Something that’s always on heavy rotation around here is acoustic covers of our favourite songs. I don’t often gravitate towards covers of ballads as it’s really just changing up several bars. What I really love and will get my attention is an artist completely slowing down a song and deconstructing its every beat. For example, Boyce Avenue’s “We Can’t Stop” gets me swaying EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I mean like stopping in the middle of the produce aisle to cradle a sack of potatoes, good. Having said that, there are some pretty crazy renditions on some classic songs that I couldn’t help but share.

So here are my top 10 songs to sing to your babies. Hold them close. Sway with them. And just totally be immersed in love with these tunes.

Oh, and if you’re on Spotify, come find me. I have an “Acoustic Love” playlist meant for you to sway your baby to slumber (hopefully – but totally not guaranteed). Alternatively, hit up "Acoustic Covers" on any music share app and you'll have a great playlist for an afternoon of cuddles.

  1. Ellie Goulding – Your Song
  2. Haley Reinhart – Can’t Help Falling
  3. Daniela Andrade – Latch
  4. Sleeping At Last – I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)
  5. The Wind and The Wave – Time After Time
  6. Megan Davies – Girl Crush
  7. Boyce Avenue – We Can’t Stop (feat. Bea Miller)
  8. Russian Red – Girls Just Want to Have Fun
  9. Jake Coco – Try
  10. Laura Jansen – Use Somebody
  11. Willie Nelson – Just Breathe (Bonus Track just because it’s Willie and he’s awesome)

We all know music is good for the mind, body, and soul. So what's better than some acoustics for those weekend afternoons over coffee and playtime. Better yet, this list is perfect to slow dance to. Snuggle your babes close and feel their breath while you sing to them. If that doesn't get the uterus beating... I don't know what will.

What are some of your favourite covers? Feel free to share below. We're always looking for amazing artists and tunes to add to the list.
